The Game
Pantages Playhouse Theatre; Winnipeg, March 2006

This is a dance drama about myths and their making. The epic Mahabharata is a tapestry of parables and philosophy, set in a familiar world of ancient cultures and hard politics. The key scene that sparks its conflict revolves around a game of dice. One man loses all – wealth, kingdom, liberty. Finally he stakes his wife. He loses; the winners drag her into the room, attempt to tear off her clothes – then suddenly there are bloody cries for revenge and thus begins a terrible war. Just what happened to that woman in that room? What sort of a game is this?

The Game, presented by ICCHA, is in support of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
