Shanthini has studied Bharatanatyam at Toronto’s Nrtyakala Academy of Indian Dance under the tutelage of Menaka Thakkar for over eleven years. As part of Menaka Thakkar Dance Company, she has taken part in productions such as Mukti Nad, In the Further Soil, Love’s Folly and Pattano Pradesh or The Queen of Spades. Her training in Bharatanatyam has been complemented by workshops in Mohiniattam and Odissi. She is currently a part-time Bharatanatyam instructor in Nrtyakala, and performed her arangetram in 2006. As a guest artist with Manohar, Shanthini has performed as Gowri in the restaged Yatra/Journey, and The Student in Steps and Echoes.
