Nila Tiwari

Nila started her Bharatanatyam training under Sarasi Raj of Montreal, and since 1981 has been a student of Menaka Thakkar of Toronto. She attended master classes in Winnipeg and Toronto, and performed her arangetram in 1985. From 1980 to 1985 Nila also studied ballet and modern dance under Faye Thompson at Winnipeg’s School of Contemporary Dance. Nila has been an instructor of Beginner Bharatanatyam, first at the India School of Dance, Music and Theatre, and in 1996 at Bravado Dance Studio. Nila joined Manohar Performing Arts in 1993. A powerful, athletic dancer, Nila’s roles with Manohar include King of Cards in The Kingdom and Cards, Dhrishtadhyamuna in The Vow, Spirit of Earth in Alchemyth, and Durga in the restaged Yatra/Journey. Nila has also been involved with costume design for Manohar, most notably for The Kingdom of Cards.
