Mohyna trained in ballet from 1981 to 1993 under Linda Yap at the Manitoba Institute of Dance. She concurrently studied Bharatanatyam under Menaka Thakkar of Toronto, attending master classes in Winnipeg and Toronto, and performed her arangetram in 1993. In 1994 she danced with the Menaka Thakkar Dance Company on tour in British Columbia. Since 1993, Mohyna has studied Kathak from Usha Sharma of Winnipeg’s Jhankaar School of Dance and has achieved a Third Year Kathak certificate from Prayag Sangeet Samiti. She joined Manoahr in 1994. With graceful footwork and lyrical mime, Mohyna’s many leading roles with Manohar reflect her versatility in three distinct styles of dance, including The Queen in The Conquest, an Elemental Spirit in Alchemyth, Usha in the original and restaged productions of Yatra/Journey, and Nikhila in La Bayadère The Temple Dancer. She has also danced soloist roles in Taal Tarang, Kirchian and Savera, as well as appearing in Guy Maddin’s film “The Saddest Music in the World.”
